From time to time poor ol Rick just needs to have some things explained to him. I'm hoping my girl readers can help me understand a particular cultural phenomena of the past 3-4 years. The guys will surely know what I am asking too, and if they know the answer, please chime in.
I keep seeing girls that have low cut jeans and thong underwear and when they sit down their underwear shows or their hiney crack shows. I'm not complaining about this. Girls showing hiney is all good by me so long as they are not milk cow hineys.
But here is what I notice. Most of the girls are tugging incessantly on their pants so that their underwear does not show. Tug, tug, tug, tug, looking around to see if anyone is looking.
I went to a baseball game last week and a young girl sat in front of me in the bleachers. When she sat down her pants rode down and her thong top was more than a little exposed. Yes, I noticed.
Then, she turned around and looked at me, tugged up her pants and gave ME a DIRTY LOOK!!!!
OK....table is set. Here is my question. If they want to show their underwear and hiney cracks why don't they just get into the spirit and do it. I promise most of us guys don't care a bit.
If they don't, well its obvious the clothes selection should be different.
But on behalf of all guys out here....if you are going to do this for God's sake just do it and don't be giving MEN a dirty 'what a pervert' look!
Can you help me with this? What gives?

I thought you were going to do an old fogey post about how you didn't understand the current fashions and how girls never dressed that way when you were young, etc. I was prepared to banish you to the Chinese Hell of Clueless Old Men, but when I reached the end I realized you'll have to move over and make room for me. I'm happy with the whole exposed butt - thong thing, but I can't explain the female attitude in those cases.
I once saw a woman walk into Kmart wearing an orange leotard with black patent-leather stilletto pumps who kept glaring at everyone who looked at her, even when she leaned on the pharmacy counter and pointed her butt at the crowd. The most extreme case I've ever seen was in Spain on a nude beach. One woman sat propped on her elbows, topless but glaring at any man who dared glance in her direction.
In the more extreme cases, I think the women are playing games with their sexuality. They want guys to look, but they also want to act like their being visually molested and that we're all pigs. In other cases, I think they're mindless slaves to fashion. They don't really want to show their butt, it's just how everybody else is dressing these days.
Hmmmm.... I don't mind flashing a little thong now and again. In fact when I buy them I keep in mind that they will be most likely viewed. It IS the fashion and it's very hard to find pants that are not low-rise. I agreee with the last paragraph Grant wrote. Women playing games and being bitchy. Another case in point, the goth teenagers you see at the mall dressing like freaks and then glaring if you look. Stupid.
You crack me UP! Patti-cake makes a good point...it is hard to find pants that aren't low-rise these days. Unless I want to buy pants that could double as a bra and have pleats...which I don't. So I know that when I wear my undies and my low-rise pants....I'm gonna share part of that with the world. I will say - hiney crack isn't available for public viewing. Anyway - I am pretty self-conscious about it and my reaction is more blushing if someone gets a peek. Oh - the pants have be tugged up because they're low-rise and they actually feel like they start to fall down...not comfortable.
To answer your overall question - some women are just bitchy. Those are the same women, I think, that glare at a man for holding the door.
I have to agree too with what Grant said. The worst example I ever saw was when the thong bikinis first came out. Some friends and I were a a firematics competition (to cheer on my Uncle) in Daytona Beach. There was this chick laying by the pool on her stomach wearing a thong. A man and wife tourist walked by and the wife said something to the effect of getting a picture of the girl to show the folks back home what they're now wearing to the beach. The husband obliged (of course) and just at the moment the picture was snapped, the girl flipped them the bird and called 'em a nasty name. Then, for the rest of the day, she acted all pissy because guys were checking her out. I thought "If you don't want to be looked at honey, you need to put that ass in something more than dental floss, got it???"
If you don't want to be oogled, don't put it out there...it's as plain and simple as that.
As the prior comments are very good; I still have only one thought that keeps echoeing in my mind. It was Chevy Chase (SNL) who said, "Jane, you ignorant slut!" I think the girls like to think of themselves in this light, just not viewed as Chevy's "Jane".

OK, I must ask-
what is a Firematics competition?
Please, don't let me leave it to my imagination- that would be too vivid, especially with the photo Rick has accompanied with this post.

A few months ago we were at an auction and a young girl was sitting in the row in front of us a few chairs down. Some men behind her were looking at her exposed thong and commenting. She turned around and glared at them. I leaned up,tapped her on the shoulder and said "If you don't want people to check out the goods honey, don't put em' on display". She became very flustered and soon got up and left. Stacy told me "Someday you're going to get in trouble for not minding your own business". I didn't care, that pisses me off. Besides, I coulda taken her *grin*
I agree with everyone else...If I catch someone looking I smile in appreciation!
I knew it! My girls here rock!
I now know I may look at your hiney cracks in peace; so long as you are willing to show me.
Ooops, except for Jenn who guards her hiney crack from view. But that's OK Jenn. Just that everyone needs to make up their mind so us can be at peace about looking (Notice how it's all about us guys - typical)
I meant 'us guys'... time for a new keyboard and or brain here.
Reach - Firematics competition is done by fireman. Used to be every year, they'd have a state wide fireman competition....where different fire stations from around the state would compete. See who's the fastest up the ladder with 100 pound pack on their backs, see who manages those big fire hoses better than any other fire station, etc.
It was all very interesting and exciting. And let me tell you, firemen KNOW how to PARTY.
;)
Was the girl in the thong watching the firemen manage their big fire hoses?
Hmm, I thought people dressed or 'un'-dressed to get attention, but it seems it has to be from the right person. If you are not the right person, you get the "what are you lookin' at?" Indeed, it may be an opportunity to select a response so the object of our adoring attention can either verbally or figuratively slap you in the face, or give her phone number. sort of a passive-aggressive game going on.
a quick follow-up. the sight of skin is always attractive, especially the suggestion of seeing a special part, doesn't matter at first what he rest of the frame or face looks like. I think that's what's going on. It's, Hey, look at me, but only look when I'm not looking back at you.
Rob,
I think you may be dead on center on this one!
Rick - I knew it!!! I KNEW someone was going to make a comment about their "big fire hoses"!!!
;)
I feel like I've been set up now....you crafty lil Queen of Nuts!
LOLOLOLOL
Hey, found your blog thru IT2M. Interesting reading here. As for the ass crack showing with thethong thing...I don't do it. I wear low riders, but the ass crack ain't showing. And if by mistake, I buy a pair of "super" low riders without realizing it and it happens...I don't wear them again.
As for the beach - bikinis are good - thongs on the beach are only good in south beach or Rio. Then again I'm a girl and I don't want to see some chicks ass...or some guys ass in a thong either for that matter haha
Now that I've rambled, thanks :)
Never seen those where I'm coming from (the Philippines)... but I guess I haven't looked hard enough.
Sodapop,
Thanks for coming over to visit. I'll drop by your place too!
ade,
Keep looking. It should hit in the Phillipines soon.
