I have this to say to Fox News. This is shameful.
I’m not sure anything else needs to be said. It is simply, in my mind, inarguably shameful.
You know the saddest thing here among many sad things? People will watch. People will buy the book. Good ratings will embolden other communication outlets to continue the long slide into sleaze with similar repugnant programming.
Shameful and Disturbing.
Addenda: Below is my email to Fox columnist Mike StrakaIt’s total and complete BS that Fox will give air time to this sickness and that you paint it as giving the public what they want. OJ exists because the media shares in his thirst to make money off of sleaze. Fox has a choice. The public is often just watching the television when they are broadsided with this filth. Others, as you say, will specifically tune in, support and be glued to this sick discourse. To defend that Fox has no choice but to give us this at our request misses a larger point of moral clarity and responsibility and feebly defends a filthy national conversation. This is truly shameful of Fox.

Seven, right on. It's because the fathead is broke! This guy is all about himself. I hope the Browns and the Goldmans sue his ...
And Fox thinks this is worthy journalism? yeah, yellow journalism. And they can swirl down the bowl with him. The really sad thing is Goldman et al can get a bunch of his revenue, but the wretchedness is look how he's getting it.(sorry, I got a little upset, there).
No problem, its worth getting upset over. None of us can stop the sickness that is OJ Simpson, but I find Fox's decision to be shameful and disturnbing as I said. It's sad really, but the publishers and communiation media will not stop this crap until WE stop buying it.
Seven,
I was not aware of this information. I am so heated on this very subject, I now wish to create my own post over this topic!
To be honest, I was very slow to being convinced of his guilt and when that finally arrived, I felt so betrayed by a hero of my youth.

Also,
Seven,
After I convince myself even further of their ignorance in this report- I feel it is time that "I" boycott the Fox Network.

Reach,
Feel free to email a link to this post to Fox. I think the key to it all is just to quit accepting such trash as our daily ration. They do it because we watch, buy, and just accept the crap that passses for journalism. I think this one is making us all upset. I know I thought it was a joke when I read it. It reads like a damn parody. Seriously, you can't make this stuff up, it's just too weird to even be funny!
Sickening. Just sickening. I don't watch Fox News anyway so I can't even boycott now. Oh well.
Jenn,
The problem with my picking on Fox is that as soon as they prove people will watch this sickness (and they will) we will see the OJ tour onto ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, etc.....
I am with y'all on this. FOX should be deeply ashamed of themselves for perpetuating such a travesty.
Cakes,
Amen
Guys, guys, it's a rating period. And it's Fox. They will get ratings, but I guarantee OJ will get squat. He still owes the Goldman's and the Brown's millions from the civil suit. He gets publicity, which is all he really wanted in the first place.
Rick is right, the only reason for this book is to pay for the Civil suit... Fox Should NOT do this interview and I'll gurantee it won't be on our television!
Rick and Gary,
My real challenge to my readers is to react and not allow Fox or other outlets to pass off the tired old crap of "we just report, we don't make OJ say these things" lame excuse making. There are countless children that will merely be walking by a television and be bombarded with the violent and sick thoughts vibrating between Simpson's ears. I pray the media types retain some shred of dignity, is this too much to expect? Maybe so.
Oh, wait, I just figured it out. Fox is "The Simpsons" network. Dignity? Surely you jest.
I agree.
Anything for ratings.
I won't watch.
7, here's my e-mail to Fox:
Giving time on the public airways for this type of journalism, the how to book on cold-blooded murder by an author who narrowly beat the odds of being convicted because he is a "celebrity", is cause for FCC and public at large to revoke Fox's broadcast license.
To what public good is pandering to an ego-maniac so he can increase his notoriety and revenue AND Fox's at the expense of familyies still suffering from their horrific loss. Are you sure you want to be a part of the dysfuntional legacy handed down to Nicole's children?
Is this no better than creeping down death row looking for the most lurid of criminals and providing interview time on how they murdered their wives and their friends?
Come on! Does money and ratings mean that much to you? Sleep on THAT, if you can.
Robert Norton
Rob,
Thanks. This is the courage changing our culture requires. Nicely stated.
Thank you for writing this. It is a new low both for Fox and OJ. I had mixed feelings about his trial. To this day, I believe he was guilty, but I also thought the police and the procecution botched their job, so as an American, I didn't think the evidence existed objectively to convict him based on the forensics (tainted evidence, racist cop). Too many what ifs were going on to keep a guilty verdict from being overturned. But OJ is a sleazeball who needs $, and he will give the folks what they want. I plan on avoiding it. Too sickening.
